Inside the Burbank Children’s Center building space is limited, therefore:
- Only those children needing to rent equipment should be in the building. Children with their own equipment can pick up their lift ticket outside the Burbank Children’s Center and head directly to the KidsRule meeting area, located at the base of the Magic Carpet.
- It is recommended that only one (1) parent or guardian accompany their child / children inside the building.
- Please have your child / children outfitted as much as possible prior to arrival so that the rental area does not become a “dressing room”.
Rentals & Tickets
- Burbank Children’s Center is open 6-8 pm, Fridays, Saturdays, holidays, and during holiday periods.
- We recommend picking up your child’s rentals the night before (after 6 pm) to avoid the morning rush and ensure your child / children will be on time for their lesson.
- Mid-week, non-holiday, tickets will be distributed at the KidsRule desk inside the Burbank Children’s Center.
- Weekends, holidays, and during holiday periods tickets will be distributed at the Sugar House, located at the base of the Magic Carpet. Please have your child dressed and ready to go when you pick up the lift tickets. Ticket distribution will begin at 8:30 am.
KidsRule FAQ’s
Q: What should children bring to their KidsRule session?
A: Children should have a waterproof jacket and snow pants, one pair of warm socks (and perhaps a back-up pair, just in case), a pair of waterproof gloves or mittens, long underwear (top and bottom) and possibly a mid-layer such as a synthetic sweatshirt or sweater, depending on the temperature, weather conditions, and the child. Neck gaiters or face masks are also recommended for kids ski and snowboard lessons on colder days. Helmets are provided as part of the rental package, but if the child has their own, they should bring that as well.
Q: What will my child have for lunch?
A: Lunch will be served from 12 – 1 pm. Your child will have their choice of pizza, macaroni & cheese, or chicken nuggets. In addition there will be sides of yogurt and apple slices available, along with various beverages to choose from.
Q: Where do KidsRule sessions begin & end?
A: Classes for kids begin and end at the Sugar House, which is adjacent to parking lot #2. Just look for the KidsRule flags at the bottom of the Magic Carpet!
Q: Will I be called if there is a problem or emergency?
A: Yes! KidsRule desk staff makes sure to obtain a phone number where the parent or guardian may be reached while the child is in their session.
Q: Can I leave the mountain while my child is in KidsRule?
A: We do not recommend leaving the resort while your child is enrolled in a kids ski school program.
Q: Can I leave my child’s medication with you?
A: KidsRule staff CAN NOT administer medications or injections to children. However, the medication may be left at the desk or on the child’s person. In the event of an emergency, the parent will be called, and Ski Patrol will be contacted.
Q: If my child is progressing, will the instructor move him/her up?
A: Yes! KidsRule staff are constantly assessing their students and will make the necessary adjustments so children are in the correct level for their current ability.
Q: Can I pick up my child’s rental equipment prior to their scheduled session?
A: Yes! We encourage you to stop by in the late afternoon or evening, prior to your scheduled kids ski or snowboard lesson, to pick up your child’s equipment, especially on weekends, holidays, and during holiday periods. It makes the next day more relaxed for everyone! The Burbank Children’s Center is open until 7 pm, Fridays, Saturdays, holidays, and during holiday periods for early pick-up.
Q: My child’s sibling/relative/friend is in KidsRule today. Can they be in the same class?
A: If the children are the same age and level, they can most likely be in the same class. If not, we would group them according to either the youngest age or lowest ability. This arrangement can be made with the on-snow supervisor, just prior to the start of the session.
Note: Your child is not guaranteed to ride with an instructor on the chairlift.
